Broadmeadow Neighborhood Association will host its annual crawfish boil, Saturday, April 6^th, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Normandy Drive in Broadmeadow.   We’ll have crawfish, potatoes, corn and sausage.  We’ll also have hot dogs for the kids!  $8 for all-you-can-eat plates or $20 per family.   This year’s event will feature live music from band Filter the Noise and jazz pianist, Kevin Wymer.   Volunteers are needed to help with event clean-up at 6:00 p.m.  To volunteer, please contact Maureen Smith at maureencatherinesmith@gmail.com.

We will also be electing BNA Board Members to two-year terms.  The BNA Board of Directors meets monthly to plan for BNA annual events, including the Fourth of July Parade and BlocktoberFeast.  Board Members are asked to support BNA with their attendance at monthly Board meetings and attendance and support of annual events.   If you have any questions, e-mail BroadmeadowNeighborhoodAssoc@gmail.com.

Broadmeadow Neighborhood Association will host “Soup’s On!” on Saturday, January 19th, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Broadmeadow United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.  The tradition continues with neighbors coming together for good food and socializing.  Every home-cooked soup prepared and donated by neighbors and local chefs, helps raise money for upcoming BNA events.

Pre-order a couple of quarts of homemade soup and freshly prepared bread, biscuits or rolls or stop by and pick up some on January 19th. The members of the Broadmeadow Neighborhood Association have gotten together to prepare a variety of soups and breads to raise money for all of our great activities including the Fourth of July parade, BlocktoberFeast and more. Offerings include New England clam chowder, cream of mushroom, grandma’s tomato-basil, turnip soup, loaded potato and more made by chefs from local restaurants and your neighbors. Both meat-based and vegetarian soups will be available. Breads, including rye loaves, sweet potato biscuits and cornbread, are coming from Broad Street Bakery, Great Harvest Bakery and soon-to-be-famous friends. Quantities are limited and we are accepting pre-orders.

BNA BlocktoberFeast, Saturday, October 20th
Broadmeadow Neighborhood Association will host BlocktoberFeast, Saturday, October 20th, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Montbrook Drive in Broadmeadow.  This year’s event will feature food and children’s events, including crafts, a bounce house and face painting beginning at 3:00 p.m., and live music from Popawheelie, Eric Stracener, Bloodbird, Fondren Guitar All-Star Band and Jim Macwell and the Coathangers. 
 
Admission to BlocktoberFeast is free.  Pulled pork plates will be available for purchase (cash only:  $10/plate; $10/cup with unlimited beer refills; $15/plate + cup; free kids plates) beginning at 4:00 p.m.  Public servants (Police, Firemen, Postal Workers, etc.) eat free! 

BlocktoberFeast T-shirts are available for pre-order only by e-mailing Terry Neyland (terryneyland@bellsouth.net) by Monday, October 15th.  The price for small, medium, large and XL will be $15 per shirt.  XXL and XXXL shirts will be an additional $2.00.

Broadmeadow Neighborhood Association will host its annual 4^th of July Parade on Wednesday, July 4^th, at 11:00 a.m., beginning at Broadmeadow United Methodist Church.  This year’s theme is Red, White, and Broadmeadow! Children and adults are encouraged to join the parade in their brightest and wackiest red, white and blue gear. Participants can march to the beat or cruise in their own bicycle or wagon float. (Parade participants should arrive around 10:50.) Prizes will be awarded to participants whose costumes or floats show the most parade spirit! Don’t want to march? Bring your chairs and some shade to the grounds of Broadmeadow Methodist Church for a prime viewing spot. You can’t have a parade without spectators!

After the parade, stick around for a potluck picnic lunch. Bring your favorite covered dish to share and enjoy food and conversation with neighbors. Hotdogs, chips, lemonade, and ice cream will be provided for all. Sprinklers, hula-hoops, and more will be set-up for post-parade fun. Please join us for this fantastic neighborhood event!
